How do you recharge the battery?
Turn on your computer, connect the pen docking station to the computer, and place the digital pen in its cradle to recharge the battery.

The cradle has a 3000-cycle (connecting twice a day for three years) minimum durability.
Can I replace the battery built-into the pen myself?
No, you cannot replace the battery yourself. The warranty for the digital pen is void if you replace the battery yourself.
Can I replace the ball-point pen myself?
Yes, the pen has a clip on the cap to be used as a replacement adapter. Use the hole on the clip to replace the ball-point pen with a new one. Place the tip of the pen into the hole in the pen clip, twist the cap slightly to the side, trapping the pen tip and pull outward to remove the old pen refill. Slide the new refill into place and simply press it into the recess.
Can I use a spare general ball-point pen available at local retail shops?
The warranty for the digital pen becomes void if you use a spare ball-point pen other than the designated spare. Only use ink refills that do not contain carbon, since carbon ink can hide the dot pattern on the paper. Use only a ball-point pen specially designed for the digital pen.
What is the life span of a digital pen?
The life span of a digital pen is about three years. This figure is calculated on the assumption that the digital pen is used for three hours a day.
How does the digital pen work with digital paper to capture handwriting?
When using digital pen and paper, a tiny camera in the pen registers the pen's movements across the grid surface on the paper and stores it as a series of map coordinates. These coordinates correspond to the exact location of the page you're writing on.
How much memory does the pen have?
The pen has 1 megabyte (MB) of memory, which is used to store pen stroke information, paper definitions, and handwritten documents.
Can the memory be upgraded to store more information?
No, the pen's memory capacity has been optimized for its intended use.
How many handwritten pages does the pen hold?
The pen can hold up to 40 full letter-size pages of handwritten content before needing to download the content to the computer.
Will I lose any of the documents in the pen if the battery dies and I don't recharge it right away?
No, the information is stored in a non-volatile flash memory, meaning the contents remain until you download the documents to the computer or reset the pen using a Master Reset Procedure.
If my pen is lost, can someone else see the information I’ve written with it?
No. The data is encrypted on the pen and can only be read by the TransScribe application specifically licensed to you. There are also password protections on our application.
